Southern Regional High School’s Maitland Demand led with two goals and an assist as the unbeaten Rams field hockey team beat visiting Freehold Borough 5-0 on Saturday.

Alexis Maul added a goal and an assist, while Erika Barbera and Samantha Minafo each scored once. Brooke Little and Emma Wilhelm had assists. Maddie Leyh made one save for the shutout.

“Freehold beat us the last two years, but we played like a team and made good decisions,” Southern coach Jenna Lombardo said.

Southern goes 2-1 on Saturday

The Southern Regional girls volleyball team defeated Williamstown (25-15, 15-25, 25-23), St. John Vianney (25-14, 25-8) and lost to Cherokee (26-24, 25-17) on Saturday at Williamstown.

Against Williamstown, Lauren Cruse led with six kills, one block and one dig. Kari Klimek had five kills, one block and four digs and Cali Modri had five kills, two blocks and three digs.

In the 2-0 win over St. John Vianney, Cruse had six kills and two digs, Morgan Koeppen had two kills and six digs, while Stephanie Soares had 17 assists.

Against Cherokee, Jess Sprankle had 12 digs, Cruse had six kills and Hannah Martin had six digs.

The Rams are now 6-1.

Cedar Creek 1

The Wildcats won 25-14, 21-25, 25-19 on Friday. Samantha McGlynn had a team-high 22 assists with four digs, four service points and two aces. Mackenzie Fabrico had 12 kills and four digs, and Claire Swift had 11 kills, five digs, six service points and three aces. For Cedar Creek, Annika Nelson had 13 digs and Alexandria Zaremba had four digs, nine assists and six service points.
