Mike Trout of Millville is a rookie outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was The Press Player of the Year that season.

Tuesday: Trout was 3-for-4 with a run scored and a walk in a 6-5 loss to the Athletics.

Season statistics (through Tuesday):

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI

SB CS BB SO .AVG OBP SLG OPS

Notes: With his 45th stolen base Monday night, Trout became the first rookie ever with at least 25 HRs and 45 SBs in a season, according to the Angels’ website.

Quotes: “As people absorb (Wins Above Replacement), you’re going to see just what an incredible impact Mike’s had in his first go-around playing in the Major Leagues,” manager Mike Scioscia said in an Alden Gonzalez story on the team’s website, “so that doesn’t surprise me.”
