Mike Trout of Millville is a rookie outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels. Trout, 21, is a 2009 Millville High School graduate who was The Press Player of the Year that season.

Sunday: Trout hit a leadoff home run for the second straight day as the Angels held off the Detroit Tigers, winning 3-2 to sweep the weekend series. Trout drove the second pitch of the game from Anibal Sanchez out to center for his 27th home run of the season, a club record for a leadoff hitter. Trout went 1-4 and is hitting .328.
