The Southern Regional High School boys volleyball team received the top seed in the South Jersey playoff tournament Thursday.

The Rams (31-1) are the defending state champions and have played in the state title game in each of the past eight seasons. They have won five championships overall.

Southern earned a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 9 Washington Township and No. 8 Cinnaminson.

First-round matches must be completed by Tuesday, second-round matches by May 25.

Lacey Township (14-3) earned the 10th seed and will face seventh-seeded Clearview Regional (12-8) in the first round Tuesday.

Rounding out the top seeds are No. 2 Pennsauken (first-round bye), No. 3 Kingsway Regional and No. 4 Williamstown.

Lacey and Southern will face each other in the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals Friday.
