The 22nd annual Atlantic City Lifeguard Classic was postponed Friday due to the threat of bad weather and rescheduled for Sunday, said Rod Aluise, chief of the Atlantic City Beach Patrol.

The four-race event, which marks the first time this summer that beach patrols from Atlantic County will compete alongside those from Cape May County, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Albany Avenue beach in Atlantic City.

All of the beach patrols in the South Jersey Lifeguard Chiefs Association will be there, except Cape May Point.

The event consists of the 600-meter paddleboard race, which has a box course in the ocean, the mile doubles row, the half-mile swim and the 1,000-foot singles row.

Avalon won the team championship last year.
