The 19th annual Upper Township Beach Patrol M.S. Six-Mile Bay Row will be held at 6:30 p.m. today at the Deauville Inn in the Strathmere section of Upper Township.

The event also has a paddleboard race, which begins at 5:45 p.m.

The Upper Township Bay Row is a fundraiser for the fight against multiple sclerosis.

Registration money and donations help that cause.

The doubles crews row first to Sea Isle City, turn and continue to southern Ocean City. After a final turn, they finish in the waters at the Deauville Inn.

The 2011 winners, Ashton Funk and Chuck Gowdy of the Margate Beach Patrol, will not row today. Gowdy won the Cape May Beach Patrol Superathlon on Monday.

Three contending crews are Avalon’s Craig Whitehead and Erich Wolf, the lifeguard alumni team of Carl Smallwood Jr. and B.J. Fox, and Wildwood Crest’s Brendan Cunningham and Terry McGovern, the winners of last year’s North Wildwood Around The Island Row. Others are Upper Township’s Mike Manning and Dan Palombo, Wildwood’s Ed Schneider and Liam Bradley, Upper’s Jon and Joe O’Neil, Margate’s Joe Palmer and Pat Smith, and the crew of Wayne MacMurray (Upper Township) and Bill Kindle (Wildwood alumni).
