RF Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 1-for-3 with a
walk and a run scored for the Tennessee Smokies in a 4-3 win over
the Mobile Bay Bears (Diamondbacks) in the double-A Southern League
on Sunday. Szczur is hitting .207 with 18 runs scored in 28 games
for the Smokies and .271 with 86 runs in 105 games overall.
A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) pitched six shutout innings, allowed
three hits while striking out seven and walking five, as the Rome
Braves beat the Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets) 2-0 in a Class-A South
Atlantic League game Saturday. Holland improved to 4-8 with a 4.00
ERA in 15 games, including 14 starts, for Rome.

DeCecco gave up four runs, three earned, in five innings before leaving with a 6-4 lead. He allowed eight hits, struck out four and walked two. His ERA is now 4.14 through 12 appearances, including six starts.
Margate beat visiting Northfield 6-3 on Charlie Law's three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday and advanced to the Atlantic County Baseball League playoff finals. Margate won the semifinal series 2-1.
