A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) pitched six shutout innings, allowed three hits while striking out seven and walking five, as the Rome Braves beat the Savannah Sand Gnats (Mets) 2-0 in a Class-A South Atlantic League game Saturday. Holland improved to 4-8 with a 4.00 ERA in 15 games, including 14 starts, for Rome.

Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 0-for-5 for the Tennessee Smokies in a 4-3 loss to the Mobile Bay Bears (Diamondbacks) in the double-A Southern League. Szczur is hitting .204 in 27 games for the Smokies since being promoted from Class A.

Darren Ford (Vineland) was 2-for-3 through six innings for the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners) against the Las Vegas 51s (Blue Jays) in a triple-A Pacific Coast League game that ended too late. Ford was hitting .260 with 24 stolen bases in 60 games through Friday.

Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) was not in the starting lineup for the AZL Padres played the AZL Rangers in a rookie-level Arizona League game that ended too late. Colon was hitting .200 with 18 RBIs in 36 games overall this year through Friday.

Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) is 2-3 with a 5.23 ERA in 14 games, including eight starts, for the Everett AquaSox (Mariners) in the short-season Class-A Northwest League. His next start likely will be Tuesday at the Boise Hawks (Cubs).
