The West Cumberland Senior League softball team advanced to the World Series in Lower Sussex, Del., on Thursday with two wins in the Eastern Regional tournament in Worcester, Mass.
West Cumberland first knocked off New Gloucester of Maine, which had been undefeated in the tournament, 6-4. New Gloucester got out to an early 3-0 led but West Cumberland came back to advance to the final.
They then defeated Delaware in the East Regional final 3-0.
The Senior League softball World Series is from Sunday, Aug. 5 to Aug. 11 in Lower Sussex, Del. West Cumberland's first game will be against the host Woodbridge Little League at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday.
