Youth baseball, softball roundup: Northfield 9-10 baseball rallies to beat Linwood

Jake LaMonaca hit a game-winning, two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Northfield to a 6-5 victory over Linwood in a District 16 Little League 9-10-year-old baseball game Monday.

LaMonaca finished with three hits, including a pair of doubles, and three RBIs.

Ted Grimley earned the win, pitching two innings with two strikeouts. Northfield starting pitcher Jaden Millstein pitched four innings and struck out four. Millstein also had two hits.

Grimley, Jack Rovillard and Riley Howat each had an RBI.

Austin Kane and Nathan Eddy each pitched three innings for Linwood and combined for six strikeouts. Mason Eddy had two hits for Linwood.

Margate next will play Northfield on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Cape May.

Northfield 16, Cape May County 1: Kevin Foreman and CJ Brown each homered for Northfield.

Charlie Murray had two hits, including a triple, and Ava Zanaras scored three runs.

Spencer Albuquerque and Daniel Misa each had two hits and three runs for Northfield, which advanced to play the winner of Margate and Linwood in the next round.

District 16 11-12 softball

Northfield 26, Somers Point 5: Sam Morton had four hits and scored four runs and Mackenzie Brennan added three hits with five runs for Northfield. Gillian McCarthy, Olivia Goff and Bailey Arena combined on a four-inning, three-hit win with seven strikeouts.

For Somers Point, Shannon Bennett and Gabriella Monzo each had a hit and scored.

Northfield advanced to the championship round. It will play Hammonton on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Northfield.
