Jeff Poth needed only 63 pitches to record a complete game win as Northfield advanced to the District 16 Little League 10-11-year-old baseball final with an 8-0 win over Absecon on Wednesday.

Poth allowed only two hits and struck out two. He also had three hits and three RBIs.

Kyle Campbell had three hits and four runs scored for Northfield, and Nate Kawpinski added a home run and two RBIs. Kyle Goodman had two hits and two RBIs, and Gabe Arena had three hits.

The Northfield defense made no errors. The team advanced to the District 16 final in Hammonton on July 19. Northfield will face the winner of Friday's game between Linwood and Absecon.

Linwood 5, Hammonton 4: Linwood won the elimination game in Ocean City and advanced to play Absecon at 7 p.m. Friday in Lower Cape May in a losers-bracket game.

Pitchers Duncan Scandin and Jack Sarkos combined for the win. Scandin started and pitched four innings, and Sarkos earned the win in two innings of relief. Scandin also went 2-for-3 with a double. Hunter Faunce was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Mike Librizzi singled in the winning run in the top of the sixth.

District 16 12-14 softball

Hammonton 22, Absecon 1: Hammonton won the district title and will play in a Section 4 game Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Monroe Township.

Hammonton's Carly Caprio and Taylor Sirolli each went 3-for-5 with a triple, double and single. Starting pitcher Paige Neilson, Alyssa Torres and Sirolli combined for the win. Neilson struck out three and Sirolli four.

District 3 softball

Ages 12-14: West Cumberland 17, Pennsville 0.

District 3 baseball (from Tues.)

Ages 10-11: Millville 14, South Vineland 3.

Atlantic Shore Babe Ruth (from Tues.)

Ages 13-15: Zach Argue went the distance, striking out nine and allowing one earned run as Brigantine defeated host Margate 11-5 to win the National League division championship.

Catcher Anthony Aliantro threw out two base-runners at third, and Mark Dunn scored two runs and drove in one for Brigantine. Michael Chubb added a run and two RBIs.
