Ohio native Chad Hackenbracht won the pole position in qualifying for today’s ARCA Racing Series All-American Race Weekend at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in Millville.

Hackanbrecht drove his best lap in 1 minute, 21.8 seconds at 99.017 mph for his first pole in 38 ARCA Racing Series starts.

The 67-lap feature race begins today at 1 p.m, with live audio coverage available at ARCARacing.com

Hackenbracht finished ahead of Andrew Ranger and Tom Hessert for the top qualifying spot. Hessert, of Cherry Hill, won the practice race earlier Saturday afternoon. Ranger, the defending champion, finished .09 seconds behind Hackenbracht .

For Hackenbracht, the pole win was a bit of a surprise.

“(Crew chief) Kevin (Reed) keeps telling me about the win and how it’ll happen when we least expect it, and the pole award came when we least expected it,” Hackenbracht said in a statement. “I’ve been looking forward to coming here. I love doing road course racing.”

Hackenbracht is fifth in the overall series standings. Today’s race is the 10th of 20 ARCA Racing Series events this season.
