The AMA Pro Road Racing motorcycle series announced nine dates for 2013 on Friday, with two more “to be determined.”

New Jersey Motorsports Park will host races Sept. 13-15. Brad Scott, the Millville park’s general manager, has his eye on another weekend — the “TBD, April/May.”

“It’s certainly encouraging (that the spring date was left open),” Scott said. “If it was to happen, it’d be really cool to do. I think there’s enough space that we wouldn’t dilute the two events.”

Scott has been talking to AMA officials about a second date since the series raced at NJMP in September. The AMA has drawn the park’s biggest crowds in each of the past four seasons.

Scott said he hopes to lock down the second date within the next month and release NJMP’s 2013 schedule by Dec. 1.

When the park’s schedule comes out, it also will include the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association for the first time.

That organization drew more than 57,000 spectators over three days last month at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala.

“That has the potential to be the biggest event on our calendar,” Scott said.
