Matt Szczur, 27, an outfielder with the Chicago Cubs, is a 2007 Lower Cape May Regional High School graduate from Lower Township. He earned a World Series championship ring with the 2016 Cubs.

Wednesday: Went 1 for 3 in a 7-4 win over the Brewers. Szczur started and hit leadoff and played right field. He was removed from the game for a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.

Thursday: The Cubs were off.

Friday: They open a three-game series at Cincinnati at 7:10 p.m. Tim Adleman (0-0, 2.25) is the Reds’ scheduled starter. Szczur has never faced him.

Stats: Szczur is hitting .125 (1 for 7) with a run scored in six games.
