Matt Szczur, 27, an outfielder with the Chicago Cubs, is a 2007 Lower Cape May Regional High School graduate from Lower Township. He earned a World Series championship ring with the 2016 Cubs.
Tuesday: Szczur did not play in the Cubs' 9-7 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Wednesday: Szczur went 1 for 3 with two strikeouts in the Cubs' 7-4 win over the Brewers. Szczur hit leadoff and played right field in his second start of the season. He was removed from the game for a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning.
Thursday: The Cubs do not play. They will travel to Cincinnati to begin a three-game series with the Reds on Friday night.
Stats: Szczur is hitting .125 (1 for 7) with a run scored in six games.
