CF Darren Ford (Vineland) went 1-for-4 with two walks and a run scored as the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners) beat the Sacramento River Cats in a triple-A Pacific Coast League game Sunday. Ford batted leadoff in his third game back after missing the start of the season with a finger injury. He is hitting .357.

DH Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) made his season debut for the Eugene Emeralds (Padres) late Saturday, going 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk in a 5-2 win over the Yakima Bears in the short-season Class A Northwest League. Colon did not play in Sunday’s 7-2 loss to Yakima.

LHP Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) made his debut for the short-season Class A Everett AquaSox (Mariners), entering in the seventh inning of a Northwest League game against the Tri-City Dust Devils. DeCecco retired the first two hitters he faced but then gave up two unearned runs on two hits and an error.

OF Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) could be back in the Daytona Cubs’ lineup today against the Tampa Yankees after a strained knee caused him to miss the Florida State League (Advanced Class A) all-star game over the weekend. Szczur is hitting .267 with 43 runs scored and 19 stolen bases in 48 games.
