Local minor-leaguers: Szczur, Ford both steal bases and score runs

CF Matt Szczur (Lower Cape May Regional) went 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base as the Daytona Cubs beat the Brevard County Manatees 4-3 in an Advanced Class-A Florida State League game Tuesday night. Szczur is hitting .290 with 67 runs scored and 34 stolen bases in 75 games.

CF Darren Ford (Vineland) was 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base as the Tacoma Rainiers (Mariners) lost 4-3 to the Tucson Padres in a triple-A Pacific Coast League game. Ford is hitting .317 with 21 runs scored and 18 stolen bases in 32 games.

1B Alexi Colon (St. Augustine Prep) went 0-for-1 for the Eugene Emeralds (Padres) in a 6-5 win in the first game of a doubleheader against the Vancouver Canadians in the short-season Class-A Northwest League. Colon had not played through five innings of the second game, which ended too late. He was hitting .163 with one home run in 43 at-bats entering the second game.

LHP Scott DeCecco (Middle Township) did not pitch as the Everett AquaSox (Mariners) beat the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 3-2 in a Northwest League game. DeCecco has a 4.50 ERA, 18 strikeouts and 10 walks in eight appearances, including two starts.

RHP A.J. Holland (Holy Spirit) did not pitch as the Rome Braves beat the Charleston RiverDogs 2-0 in a Class-A South Atlantic League game. Holland is 1-7 with a 5.48 ERA in nine appearances with Rome.
