Matt Szczur, 27, is a 2007 Lower Cape May Regional High School graduate from Lower Township. He earned a World Series championship ring with the 2016 Cubs and was traded May 8 to the San Diego Padres.

Monday: Szczur went 1 for 2 with a double and a run scored as a pinch-hitter in a 9-6 loss to the Colorado Rockies.

Szczur entered the game in the eighth inning and stayed in to play center field.

Tuesday: They’ll continue their series in Denver with an 8:40 p.m. game. Antonio Senzatela (9-3, 4.63) is Colorado’s scheduled starter. Szczur has not faced him.

Stats: Szczur is hitting .204 (20 for 101) with three home runs, 13 runs scored and 11 RBIs in 64 games.
