(On the Pitch is a quick conversation with a Cape-Atlantic League, Shore Conference or Tri-County Conference high school soccer player.)

Junior Zayne Czeronka is the top goal scorer so far for Buena Regional High School and is one of the leaders in the Cape-Atlantic League in goals scored.

The 17-year-old forward has already scored 13 goals this season, including two goals in Buena's 3-1 win over Lower Cape May Regional on Wednesday.

On his soccer experience: I started playing soccer around 4 years old. My mom signed me up, and I stuck with it because I liked it. I play for Buena and a club team in Vineland. I like the teams. We get along and we're all friends. I guess I'll play soccer in college if I go.

On his favorite part of soccer: I'm not sure what my favorite part is, I guess it's the competition. I like the rush after you score or win or do something good.

On his favorite athlete: I like Lionel Messi on Barcelona. He's a good player and he doesn't give up, and he's smart. He just sees stuff on the field that a lot of people can't.

On his goals: I want to try to be a top goal scorer (for the season). So far I have 13. I want to go to the national championships again with my (Vineland) club team. We went to Colorado over this past summer for the championships.
