The Phillies placed left-handed starting pitcher John Lannan on the 15-day disabled list on Thursday with a strained quadriceps tendon in his left knee, general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said in a statement.

Lannan, 28, had a 2.77 ERA and held opposing hitters to a .177 batting average through his first two starts of the season before allowing six earned runs on eight hits in 1 2/3 innings in Cincinnati last night.
