Somers Point native Dean Randazzo advanced to the second round of the International Surfing Association World Masters Surfing Championship on Sunday in Montanita, Ecuador.

Randazzo, who is competing in the Grand Masters category, dominated and won Heat No. 9 with a score of 13.93. The competition continues today.

In other news, the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation will hold its 10th annual "Golf for a Cause" on Saturday at Mays Landing Golf and Country Club in Mays Landing. Donations to the foundation are used to fund cancer research, promote cancer awareness and assist individuals battling cancer both financially and emotionally. Randazzo has had four different battles with cancer over the last 11 years, according to the foundation's website.
