Clevon McPherson scored the winning goal in the 87th minute to lead Richard Stockton College's men's soccer team to a 3-2 win at Kean University on Wednesday.

Jared Ruff and Pat Rafferty assisted on the goal.

The game was the first of the New Jersey Athletic Conference season.

Sean Ahern and Chris Catona each scored early in the second half to give the Ospreys a 2-0 lead, but Abner Denis scored two unanswered goals as Kean rallied to tie the score.

Stockton goalie Bob Millar made four saves in the win.

Stockton plays next on Saturday at 1 p.m. when they host Alvernia in a nonconference game.

Stockton women's soccer: Briana Fischer scored for Stockton in the first half, but Misericordia's Sam Helmstetter tied it in the second half. After two overtime periods, the teams played to a 1-1 tie.

Sarah Hinkle made 11 saves for the Ospreys, and Maureen Ciccosanti made six saves for Misericordia.

Stockton next plays Saturday at home against Immaculata at 3 p.m.

Stockton women's tennis: The College of New Jersey collected its 145th straight conference victory by beating Stockton 9-0. Stockton's Krystle Bendijo lost 6-1, 6-1 to sister Karisse Bendijo in first singles.
