The Richard Stockton College softball team beat eighth-seeded Old Westbury 1-0 in the first round of the ECAC Metro Tournament on Wednesday.

Michelle Pietrocola took a no-hitter into the sixth and finished with 10 strikeouts for her 16th win this season. Brittany Ksiezopolski struck out two in the seventh for the save.

Nicole Chabak’s pinch-hit RBI single in the bottom of the fourth turned out to be the only run of the game.

The top-seeded Ospreys will host the four-team double-elimination part of the tournament on Saturday. Games are scheduled every two hours starting at 10 a.m.

Stockton baseball: The Ospreys were knocked out in the first round of the ECAC Metro tournament.

The third-seeded Ospreys were upset 6-2 by sixth-seeded Purchase College (N.Y.).

Purchase scored two runs in the top of the first and jumped out to a 5-0 lead with three more in the fourth.

Winning pitcher Miller Lulow struck out two in a complete game. Lulow scattered 10 hits and forced Stockton to ground into three double plays.

Mike Bush went 3-for-3 with a double and a walk to lead Stockton. Mark Jankowski and Brett Solomen each went 2-for-3.

The Ospreys tied a school record for wins this season with 23.
