Stockton women's soccer team eliminated from NJAC tourney on penalty kicks, 4-2

The Richard Stockton College women’s soccer team lost 4-2 on penalty kicks to top-seeded Montclair State University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference tournament semifinal game Friday in Upper Montclair.

After a scoreless regulation and two overtime periods, the Red Hawks went 4-for-4 on shootout attempts.

Claire Midili scored Montclair’s fourth shootout goal and Stockton missed its ensuing attempt. Sophomore Francesca Gibson (Lower Cape May Regional) also connected for the Red Hawks.

Jess McQuillen and Briana Fischer scored for the Ospreys.

Sarah Hinkle made four saves for Stockton. Stockton, the fourth seed, was outshot 13-11 overall.

Goalies—Hinkle (4) RSC; Policastro (4) MSU.

Men’s cross country: Stockton junior James Rivers (Barnegat) was named to the New Jersey Athletic Conference men’s first team. Rivers was one of seven chosen.

Stockton seniors Randy Faiges and Alex Bruno were named to the second team.
