Thanksgiving football preview: Lower Cape May Regional vs. Middle Township

Lower Cape May Regional’s Jackson Sole runs for a few yards before being tackled by Cedar Creek’s Jalil Burrel.

Why this game is special: This contest is dubbed "The Anchor Bowl." The winner gets a plaque created in 1996 that features an anchor taken from the boat owned by the father of former Lower coach Bill Garrison. The series is tied at 8-8 since this game became "The Anchor Bowl."

Middle update: The Panthers are in the midst of a revival. They qualified for the playoffs for just the third time in school history, losing to Willingboro 23-13 in a South Jersey Group II quarterfinal. A win Thursday gives Middle its first winning season since it finished 6-4 in 2004.
