Linebacker Connor Barwin joins the Philadelphia Eagles this season and is expected to help them make the transition to a 3-4 defense, the kind he played with the Houston Texans.

How acquired: Free agency

Expected role: Barwin is supposed to be one of the leaders of this season's Eagles defense. Since Barwin played in a 3-4 defense with Houston, Eagles defensive coordinator Billy Davis is counting on him to help fellow outside linebackers Trent Cole and Brandon Graham make the transition from defensive end. Barwin had 11 sacks in 2011 but only three last season for the Texans.
