Lacey Township High School sophomore
Leavitt won the South Jersey Group III title (18 minutes, 21 seconds) and the Ocean County (18:05) and Shore Conference championships (17:37). She ran a personal best at the Shore Conference Championships at Ocean County Park and was the first local girl to win the race since former Southern Regional standout Jill Smith, who now runs for the University of Michigan, in 2008. She is the first girl from Lacey to win the title since Christy Planer in 2001. Leavitt finished fourth (19:07) in the state Group III race and was 103rd (20:39) at the Meet of Champions. She finished third (19:22) in her race at the South Jersey Open, one of the first meets of the season.
Bettis finished second to Leavitt at the South Jersey Group III Championships in 18:37. Bettis also set a meet record at the Atlantic County Championships in 17:09.88 and won the title. One week later she won the Cape-Atlantic League championship for the first time in 17:32.96. Bettis also set the course record at Hammonton Lake Park in 16:39 in a dual meet against St. Joseph.
Ocean City, Jr.
Finished fourth in the South Jersey Group III meet in 19:23. She led all locals at the Meet of Champions as she finished 59th among 181 in 19:52. She earned a wild-card spot at the MOC after finishing 14th (19:47) in Group III. Brelsford also finished second at the CALs in 18:39.82 as the Red Raiders took the team title. She also led her team to the Cape May County title, winning the race for the second year in a row.
Juniewicz finished ninth in South Jersey Group IV in 19:21. She was fourth at the CALs (18:54.59) and at the Atlantic County meet (18:26.32).
Southern Regional, Sr.
Finished seventh in 19:30 at the Ocean County Championships. She finished ninth among local girls at the Shore Conference Championships in 21:22.
Egg Harbor Township, Jr.
Shafer finished 66th at the Meet of Champions in 19:59. She received a wild-card spot for her 15th-place performance (19:45) at the Group IV championships. She was sixth (18:56) at the South Jersey Group IV meet, second at CALs (18:31.31) and third at the Atlantic County Championships in 18:05.82 for her fastest time this season.
Finished seventh in the South Jersey Group IV meet in 19:04 and led her team to a third-place finish. At the Shore Conference Championships, she finished ninth in 18:34, joining Lacey Township's Danielle Leavitt as the only local girls to finish in the top 10. Smith finished fourth (19:09) to help her team win the Ocean County championship.
