Eagles and Giants players and coaches met with students, parents and teachers from Sandy Hook Elementary School and other schools from Newtown, Conn., before the game as part of a touching ceremony honoring the victims of the tragedy that befell that school earlier this month.

Three stars

1. Giants quarterback Eli Manning (five touchdown passes)

2. Giants wide receiver Reuben Randle (two touchdown receptions)

3. Giants safety Stevie Brown (eighth interception of the season)

Turning point

The Giants led 21-0 when the Eagles scored on Michael Vick's 7-yard touchdown pass to Jeremy Maclin early in the second quarter. Any chance of an Eagles rally ended when the Giants scored on their next possession to go ahead 28-7.

Eagles' best play

Their best play was their first play. They started the game with an onside kick by Alex Henery. Eagles cornerback Brandon Hughes recovered it.

Eagles' worst play

Quarterback Michael Vick's first pass since suffering a concussion against Dallas on Nov. 11 was a terrible throw that Brown intercepted and returned 48 yards to set up the Giants' first TD.

Wide receiver Jason Avant went into the locker room for X-rays on his foot and knee in the first quarter, but he only missed one offensive series. ... Defensive end Phillip Hunt had the Eagles' only sack in the third quarter. ... Edwards made his season debut in the fourth quarter.

Parting shots

Eagles tight end Brent Celek: "It it was a (lack of) effort deal, then shame on us. Because that was embarrassing."

Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora: "It's unfortunate (that the Giants won't be in the playoffs), but you can't go to the playoffs every year."
