The Buena 16 and under baseball team shut out Woodstown 10-0 in five innings in the first game of the District 3 championships on Monday night.

David Krail, Kris Morgenweck and Cody Jelinek combined for a two-hitter. Eddie Sheppard had two hits and CJ Middleton had three RBIs.

Game 2 of the best-of-three series is today in East Vineland. If Buena wins, they will clinch the district title.

Section 4 9-10 baseball

Northfield 8, West Cumberland 5: Cole Campbell, Justin Varretta, Ben Bradt and Joey Hoopes combined to get the win on the mound on Monday night. Varetta was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Campbell was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Tyler Allen was 1-for-2 with two RBIs, and Corey Spare was 2-for-3 with an RBI.

District 16 11-12 baseball

Northfield 14, Margate 3, 4 innings: With the win on Sunday, Northfield advanced to the District 16 final tonight against Ocean City. Northfield will need to beat Ocean City tonight and Thursday to win the title. Both games start at 7 p.m. at Birch Grove Park.

Northfield scored 10 runs in the top of the first as they hit four home runs. Devin Sharkey, who had three runs scored and five RBIs, hit two home runs in the first, including a grand slam. Kevin Foreman (two runs scored), Dylan Porr (three RBIs) and CJ Brown (two RBIs) also homered for Northfield.

Jeffrey Toth, Sharkey and Nick Atohi combined to pitch a four-hitter with eight strikeouts.

For Margate, Jayden Millstein doubled and pitched well in relief.
