Gillian McCarthy struck out 11 and allowed just four hits in a complete game as Northfield beat West Cumberland 7-3 on Saturday in the Section 4, 11- to 12-year-old softball winner's bracket final in Cherry Hill.

Northfield will play in the Section 4 championship 7 p.m. today, opponent to be determined.

McCarthy had three hits with an RBI and a run scored. Amanda Kinkler had three hits and two runs scored, Brianna Barretta two hits with an RBI triple and two runs, and Bailey Arena two hits and two RBIs.

District 16 13-14 softball

Northfield 10, Absecon 8, 7 innings: Nicole Pancari went 2-for-5 with two triples for Northfield. Kelsey Dewees and Meaghan Wild each had two doubles. Jenny Margolis went 2-for-4. Bree Searle pitched seven innings.

For Absecon, Meredith Miller and Julia Rifici each had singles. Justine Daly pitched seven innings.

District 16 11-12 baseball

Margate 8, Linwood 7: Wyatt Stetzer hit a game-winning, three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lead Margate on Friday in a bottom bracket semifinal game.

Margate was scheduled to face Northfield in Linwood at 7 p.m. Sunday in the bottom bracket finals.

Stetzer and Jake LaMonaca pitched and combined for seven strikeouts in the win.

Jaden Millstein had three hits and two RBIs, and John Bee had three hits, including a three-run home run. LaMonaca and Brian Walsh each had two hits.

Jack Sarkos went 3-for-3 to lead Linwood. Sarkos and Hunter Rich each hit three-run home runs in the loss.

District 3, U-16

Buena 12, South Vineland 5: Buena's U-16 baseball beat South Vineland 12-5 on Saturday to remain unbeaten in District 3 bracket play.

Buena plays Woodstown in the best-of-three finals, starting today, in East Vineland.

Len Coulter pitched four innings and helped himself with a pair of hits. L.J. Maldonado hit a two-run home run, and Dom Lopez hit a solo shot. Andrew Cartier reached base three times, and Jordan Ellis scored three runs.

District 16, U-14

Lower Cape May 14, Middle Township 4: Ryan Hill was the winning pitcher for Lower with three strikeouts. Chris Rivera went 4-for-5 with two RBIs, Mike DiCave was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Ian Alexander was 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Joe Babore was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Middle Township had four hits. Cus Denham and Kyle Eppright both singled, and Noah Butterfield and Perdomo both doubled.
