Cumberland, the East representative in the Big League World Series, lost their first game Wednesday 3-2 to the West team from Southern California.

Ridge Herman was 2-for-3 with a double, Aaron Cox was 0-for-2, but had a walk and an RBI on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Austin Griffie was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the sixth.

The Big League World Series in Easley, S.C., continues today as Cumberland takes on the Central team at 7:30 p.m. in pool play.

Another District 3 team, South Vineland, lost 14-4 to Yonkers (N.Y.) to end their run in the intermediate level East Regional Tournament in Commack, N.Y.
