CHERRY HILL - The Atlantic City High School boys basketball team used a strong defense to win the South Jersey Group IV title Tuesday afternoon in a 52-41 win over host Cherry Hill East.

The Vikings, the No. 5 seed, forced 18 turnovers in the first half to build a lead that they would never relinquish over the No. 2 seed Cougars.

Jahleem Montague had 15 points and 11 rebounds, three blocks to lead the Vikings (23-5). Kashawn Dunston had 10 points. Ja-briel Chandler scored 10 points and grabbed nine rebounds.

Atlantic City has now won eight South Jersey titles and four under coach Gene Allen. It's the school's first South Jersey title since 2008.

Atlantic City advances to a state Group IV semifinal on Thursday against the Central Jersey champion -- either Colts Neck or Middletown North -- at 6 p.m. Thursday at Egg Harbor Township High School.
