The Roselle Catholic boys and the Malcolm X. Shabazz girls are at the top of the New Jersey high school basketball.

Both teams won Tournament of Champions titles at Sun National Bank Arena in Trenton on Tuesday night. The TOC features the six teams that won state titles.

Roselle Catholic won its first TOC title with a 65-49 defeat of St. Joseph-Metuchen.

St. Joe had beaten Atlantic City 63-49 in last Friday's semifinals.

On Tuesday, guard Malachi Richardson led Roselle Catholic (25-5) with 21 points. Forward Tyler Robertson, who is headed to Syracuse University, scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Karl Towns, a 7-foot junior who has already verbally committed to Kentucky, scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds for St. Joe (27-5).

Meanwhile, the Shabazz girls defeated Rancocas Valley Regional 66-54.

Shabazz (33-1) jumped to a 20-9 lead in the first quarter and held off the Red Devils (30-2).

Forward DeAshia Jones led Shabazz with 20 points.

Forward Lauren Moses countered with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists for Rancocas.

Shabazz has won five TOC titles but Tuesday was the Newark's first championship since 2008.
