A game-changing 3-pointer by Summer Crilley with two seconds to go in the first half gave fifth-seeded Holy Spirit an extra boost as the Spartans defeated No. 4 seed Gloucester Catholic 42-35 in a South Jersey Non-Public A quarterfinal game in Gloucester City on Friday.

As the first half came to a close, Holy Spirit forced a turnover and Jaymie McClain found Crilley, who pulled up from the top of the key and sunk a 3-pointer for a five-point edge.

Annie Wentz scored 10 of her team-high 14 points in the fourth quarter as the Spartans pulled away. Emily Higbee and Val Garofalo added nine and eight points.

Holy Spirit will play top-seeded St. Rose, the No. 1 team in The Press Elite 11, on Monday at 6 p.m. in Belmar in a semifinal game.

Top-seeded Atlantic Christian, the defending National Christian Schools Athletic Association tournament champion, outscored Neigborhood Academy 19-3 in the first quarter and cruised to the semifinal win at the Family First Sports Park in Erie, Pa.

Shereesha Richards led the Cougars with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals. Jamea Coleman added 10 points, five assists and four steals, and Kelsey Robinson added seven points. Kelsey Brooks had 14 points for Neighborhood Academy.

Atlantic Christian (31-5) will play Portersville Academy (Md.), the second seed, at 1:30 p.m. today for the championship of the 12-team tournament.

Atlantic Christian beat 12th-seeded Evangel Christian (Pa.) 55-11 in a first round game on Thursday.

Holy Spirit led by three points going into the fourth quarter, but Paul VI went on a 9-0 run to take the lead.

Jay Howard scored six of his 12 points in the final period to lead the Eagles. Roosevelt Cubbage added 12 points, six rebounds and four blocks.

For Holy Spirit, Paul Moore scored a game-high 14 points. Junior Saintel added 10 for the Spartans, who finish the season 18-10.

St. Augustine Prep’s run at defending its South Jersey Non-Public A title ended with a loss to Bishop Eustace, the No. 8 team in The Press Elite 11 and No. 5 seed, in the teams’ third straight meeting in the playoffs.

The fourth-seeded Hermits, the No. 9 team in the Elite 11, carried a seven point lead into the final quarter.

Bishop Eustace rallied in the fourth quarter from a sevenpoint deficit to win. Sho DaSilva scored nine of his 15 points in the second half to lead the comeback.

Carson Puriefoy recorded a game-high 39 points as Eustace avenged two semifinals losses to the Prep the previous two seasons.

Eustace took its first lead with 4 minutes left when it went up 52-51. With a minute left, the Crusaders extended the lead to 60-54, their biggest of the night. St. Augustine crept back to within three, but a costly turnover with 8.3 seconds left helped Eustace put the game away.

Brent Slotoroff, Mike Greenman, Blake Rossell and Dominic Palmieri were all in double figures for the Prep.

Slotoroff and Rossell each scored 12 points to lead the Hermits (22-5).
