Junior Kennedy Johnson registered her first career triple-double as third-seeded Sacred Heart High School defeated visiting and No. 14 seed Wildwood Catholic 42-30 in the opening round of the South Jersey Non-Public A tournament.

Johnson totaled 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 blocks for the Lions, who won their 20th game of the season. Sacred Heart has recorded 20 wins 13 out of the last 14 years.

Mandy Buirch added 10 points for Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart will host Our Lady of Mercy Academy, the 11th-seed, Friday at 7 p.m. in a quarterfinal game. The Villagers upset sixth-seeded Timothy Christian 62-47 on Tuesday.

For Wildwood Catholic, Katie McCallion recorded a team-high 10 points, including six from the foul line. Olivia Rulon added eight points for the Crusaders.

Shannon Metzler and Dana DiRenzo each posted 12 points to lead the Wildcats. DiRenzo also grabbed 14 rebounds for a double-double. Gabby Dudo and Dana Donahue were also in double figures for St. Joseph with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Wildcats will visit fourth-seeded Trenton Catholic on Friday for a quarterfinal contest.
