CHERRY HILL - The Holy Spirit High School boys basketball team could not overcome a sluggish start Sunday afternoon.

Shawnee beat the Spartans 52-43 in a Cherry Hill East Invitational game.

Spirit trailed 10-3 after one quarter and by as many as a dozen points during the second quarter.

But freshman Leon Daniels (10 points) and sophomore Jordan Taylor sparked Spirit in the second half. Taylor came off the bench to score 13 points.

The Spartans cut Shawnee's lead to two with 3 minutes, 59 seconds left in the game on a Taylor basket. But Spirit got no closer.

Shawnee clinched the win by sinking 14-of-14 foul shots during the fourth quarter.
