The Middle Township High School boys basketball team started fast but then faded Saturday night.

Paul VI beat the Panthers 47-45 in a Cherry Hill East Invitational game.

Paul VI (20-3) is No. 10 in The Press Elite 11, while Middle (18-5) is No. 8.

Middle sank four 3-pointers in the first quarter and led 18-8 early in the second quarter.

But Paul VI grinded it way back into the game and took the lead in the fourth quarter.

Middle had its chances in the final 10 seconds.

Down by two points, Middle’s Tom Feraco missed the front end of one-an-one foul shot with 10 seconds left.

A 3-point attempt at the buzzer by Middle’s LaMarr Greer rolled off the rim.

Feraco led Middle with a game-high 17 points. Jay Howard scored 15 points for Paul VI, despite sinking just 5-of-15 foul shots.
