Tom Catanoso hit a jump shot with 41 seconds left to give sixth-seeded Middle Township High School the lead for good as the Panthers beat host and No. 3 seed Medford Tech 45-42 in the South Jersey Group II boys basketball quarterfinals Thursday.

Catanoso topped Middle with 16 points and Darrell Shelton added 12.

The game featured eight lead changes and Middle forced a turnover in the final seconds to seal the victory.

The Panthers will play at fifth-seeded Willingboro, the No. 4 team in The Press Elite 11, at 3 p.m. on Saturday in a semifinal game.

Bridgeton was unable to keep up with high-scoring Willingboro from the start, as the Chimeras scored 36 points in the first quarter.

For Bridgeton, Dontae Stubbs scored a team-high 18 points. Darrell Jackson and Craig Singleton each added 10 points for the Bulldogs.

Nazir Williams was Bridgeton’s top rebounder with eight.

Willingboro’s Ronny Paden led all scorers with 31 points.

The game was close until the Lions pulled away in the fourth quarter. Mike Mazzochi and Michael Holloway each scored 12 points for Sacred Heart.

Dan Decker led Timothy Christian with 22 points.

The Crusaders held a seven-point lead with 2 minutes, 30 seconds to go, but it slipped away.

Cardinal McCarrick made 10 foul shots in the fourth quarter to get back into the game and Marques Townes hit a jumper at the buzzer to lift the Eagles to the win.

Townes led all scorers with 23 points.

T-John Casiello scored five of his 14 points in the fourth quarter for Wildwood Catholic. Jordan Robertson added 13 for the Crusaders, who finish the season 18-9.
