EGG HARBOR CITY - The Cedar Creek High School girls basketball team won the South Jersey Group I championship Tuesday with a convincing 62-29 win over Gloucester City in front of a capacity crowd. The top-seeded Pirates are in their second varsity season.

Junior Kristine Miller led Cedar Creek with 18 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots. Mercina Stefanski added 17 points.

The Pirates advance to the state Group I semifinal and will play the winner of tonight's Central Jersey Group I championship between New Egypt and Metuchen on Thursday at Williamstown High School.
