The Lower Cape May Regional High School girls basketball team defeated John W. Hallahan of Philadelphia 54-25 in the Battle at the Boards Showcase game at the Boardwalk Basketball Classic on Saturday at the Wildwoods Convention Center in Wildwood.

The Caper Tigers outscored Hallahan 20-0 in the first quarter on their way to the win. Lauren Holden led Lower with 13 points, and Madie Gibson added eight points.

Rian Young had four steals for the winners, and teammate Jessica McDowell had eight rebounds.

Grace Stant led host Rumson-Fair Haven with 17 points and Stephanie Lesko had 11 in the first-round game of the WOBM Christmas Classic in Toms River. Sara Ridgeway scored 10 points for Barnegat.
