Mariya Ruban converted a layup with 6.1 seconds left as Our Lady of Mercy Academy girls basketball team defeated visiting Woodrow Wilson 51-49 in a South Jersey Invitational Tournament first-round game.

With two seconds left, Anne Brewer sealed the win for the host Villagers with a steal. Ruban finished with 16 points and Ali Dandrea led the scoring with 22.

Dandrea was 5-for-5 from behind the arc and had two 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Ruta Vetra provided 10 points for OLMA, which will play a second-round game on Feb. 10.

Woodrow Wilson recorded seven 3-pointers.

Mainland held a one-point lead after three quarters, but was outscored 14-9 to in the fourth to let the opening game of the 18th Annual Prime Events Shootout slip away.

Alex Raring led the Mustangs with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Shea Scannell contributed with five points and three assists. Mainland scored 22 of its points in the paint.

For Central Regional, Rachel Iozzia registered 16 points and Katelyn Kuster had 13. Kayla Heline grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds.

Kennedy Johnson guided Sacred Heart with game-highs in points with 24 and rebounds with nine in the Prime Events Shootout Game.

Johnson also blocked two shots, while Mandy Buirch tallied 12 points and two steals. Alyssa Ferrucci had three assists and Khalia Smith collected five rebounds for the Lions.

Sacred Heart scored 21 points off turnovers and 28 points in the paint.

Egg Harbor Township's Eryn Reed scored a team-best 11 points and Selena Santiago added nine.
