Lauryn Fields led second-seeded Middle Township High School with 12 points as they defeated third-seeded Sterling Regional 37-24 in a South Jersey Group II semifinal girls basketball game on Saturday.

The Panthers, No. 11 in The Press Elite 11, advance to the South Jersey Group II finals where they will host fifth-seeded Delran on Monday at 7 p.m.

Middle Township outscored Sterling 10-1 in the first quarter and never slowed down. Anna Ay contributed nine points and Kristina Startare had four points with eight rebounds and two steals.

Trenton Catholic, ranked third in The Press Elite 11,  took a 27-12 halftime lead and pulled away in the second half.

The Iron Mikes put four players in double figures, including Charles Cooke, who led with 14 points, and Brandon Taylor and Malachi Richardson, who had 13 points apiece. For Sacred Heart, Kyle Lee-Williams scored 12 points and Dustin Graiff and Troy Day added seven apiece.

Trenton Catholic, the third-seeded team, will play for a South Jersey title against top-seeded Gill St. Bernard’s, the Elite 11’s second-ranked team, on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Jackson Liberty High School in Ocean County.
