A look ahead

Two of the area's top teams are poised for similar success next winter.

Sacred Heart (25-2) returns nearly its entire roster, including four starters. The Lions will have to make up for the loss of Brittany Harden (11.9 points per game) but have plenty of depth and one of the region's best point guards in Lexi Bruno. Meanwhile, state Group I champion Cedar Creek returns its entire roster. The Pirates made tremendous strides in the previous offseason and should do the same this year.

Another top team, Middle Township (24-6) snapped a 17-year drought when it won the South Jersey Group II title. The Panthers lose three seniors - Kristina Startare, Sarah Roberts and Anna Ay - but have several talented underclassmen to carry them next season. Lauryn Fields, Olivia Schwartz and Lauren Legler will highlight Middle Township.
