The Pleasantville High School football team begins a new era tonight when it plays the first game on its new artificial grass field. The Greyhounds host Vineland at 7 p.m.

Pleasantville vs. Vineland is one of several interesting Cape-Atlantic League interdivision games this weekend.

Vineland (1-0) at Pleasantville (0-1)

7 p.m. today: Vineland showed plenty of speed in a 44-27 win over Ocean City last Friday. R.J. Morgan scored on a 91-yard kickoff return and an 81-yard run. Freshman Isaiah Spencer rushed seven times for 133 yards. Hassan Calloway scored Pleasantville's only touchdown in a 54-7 loss to Bridgeton.

Oakcrest (1-0) at Millville (1-0)

7 p.m. today (1440-AM): Oakcrest lost to Holy Spirit 41-16 last Friday but the Falcons got a forfeit win because Spirit used an ineligible player. Millville running back Alquann Jones rushed for 238 yards and three touchdowns in last week's 47-12 win over Middle Township. Tonight's winner gets a boost toward the playoffs.

Bridgeton (1-0)

at Egg Harbor Township (0-1)

7 p.m. today (94.3 FM): This contest should be decided by which team makes the most big plays. Bridgeton dominated on offense, defense and special teams in last week's 54-7 win over Pleasantville. Running back Jerome Scurry ran for a touchdown and scored on a 75-yard punt return. EHT comes off a 20-6 loss to Absegami. Curtis Fitzpatrick scored on a 73-yard run for the Eagles.

Mainland Regional (0-1)

at St. Augustine Prep (0-1)

7 p.m. today: Mainland showed a stingy defense in a 23-7 loss to Hammonton. St. Augustine's John Barillo rushed for 71 yards in a 13-9 loss to Atlantic City.

Ocean City (0-1)

at Atlantic City (1-0)

7 p.m. today (98.7 FM): This game matches a pair of sophomore quarterbacks, both coming off excellent varsity debuts. Ocean City's Chris Gabor threw for three touchdowns - two of them to wide receiver Chris Turner - in a 44-27 loss to Vineland. Atlantic City quarterback Robert Parker threw for 107 yards and drove the Vikings to the winning touchdown in a 13-9 defeat of St. Augustine Prep.

Buena Regional (0-1)

at Hammonton (1-0)

7 p.m. today: Hammonton is No. 8 in The Press Elite 11 after last Friday's 23-7 win over Mainland. Blue Devils have outstanding depth in the backfield with twins David and Dominic Williams, Russell Forchion, Jordan Alexander and Dylan Rosu. Buena is young under first-year coach Jonathan Caputo.

United Division

St. Joseph (1-0)

at Middle Township (0-1)

7 p.m. today: Five different St. Joe players scored offensive touchdowns in last Friday's 55-7 win over Buena Regional. Middle and Millville were tied 6-6 late in the second quarter last Friday. But Millville wore Middle down and won 47-12.

Nonleague

Delaware Valley (1-0)

at Cedar Creek (0-1)

1 p.m. Saturday: Cedar Creek played its first varsity game, losing to Lower Cape May 20-13 last Saturday. Quarterback Damon Mitchell rushed for 123 yards and threw for 107. Delaware Valley (Hunterdon County) beat Governor Livingston 28-8 last week. Delaware Valley finished 8-2 last season. The Terriers are Central Jersey Group II contenders.

Lower Cape May Regional (1-0)

at Cape Henlopen (Del.) (1-0)

2 p.m. Saturday: These two schools, located at opposite ends of the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, play for the Commissioner's Cup. The trophy is presented by the Delaware River and Bay Authority, which operates the ferry. Lower won last year 25-3.

Barnegat running back David Smithman ran for 217 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-16 loss to Rumson-Fair Haven. Manchester opened with a 35-7 defeat of South Plainfield.

Pinelands Regional (0-1)

at Central Regional (1-0)

7 p.m. today: Pinelands showed its youth in last week's 56-14 loss to Monsignor Donovan. Central comes off a 21-12 win over Red Bank Regional.

Brick Township (0-1)

at Lacey Township (0-1)

1 p.m. Saturday: Lacey tailback Kyle Spatz rushed for 157 yards in a 21-14 loss to Monmouth-County power Wall. Lacey is still No. 11 in The Press Elite 11. Brick opened with a 17-10 loss to rival Brick Memorial.

Southern Regional (0-1)

at Colts Neck (1-0)

1 p.m. Saturday: Southern opened with a 28-7 loss to state power Red Bank Catholic, considered the Shore Conference's top team. Colts Neck quarterback Dylan Cottrell threw two touchdown passes in a 21-6 win over Long Branch.

Highland Regional (0-1)

at Cumberland Regional (0-1)

7 p.m. today: These teams are looking for their first win and points. Cumberland opened with a 19-0 loss to Timber Creek. Highland lost its opener to Triton 48-0.

Wildwood (0-1) at Clayton (0-1)

Noon Saturday: Wildwood's last win was a 24-18, triple-overtime win over Clayton on Oct. 10, 2008.
