Abe Gonzalez rushed for 163 yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the Rams.
During the opening drive, Southern defensive back Mike Gesicki intercepted a pass at the Toms River South 49-yard line and the Rams scored on the ensuing possession when Gonzalez found the end zone on a 1-yard run.
Later in the first quarter, Logan Sheehan gave the Rams good field position when he recovered a fumble at Toms River South’s 35-yard line. Quarterback Dan Higgins connected with Gesicki for a 32-yard completion and Rob Yaiser scored on the next play.
Higgins completed 3-for-7 passes for 88 yards, and the Rams had 218 rushing yards.
Southern’s defense held Toms River South to just 94 total yards.
