The Barnegat High School football team took another step toward clinching a South Jersey Group II playoff spot with a 20-17 win over Red Bank Regional in a Shore Conference football game Friday.

Jordan Salt caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Mark McCoy - one for 23 yards and one for 74 - as the Bengals snapped Red Bank's three-game win streak. McCoy has thrown eight touchdown passes this season.

Barnegat jumped to a 10-0 lead but went into halftime tied 10-10 after Red Bank scored on a field goal and a blocked punt return for a touchdown by Garrett Sickles.

Barnegat (4-3) led 20-10 heading into the fourth quarter. A 6-yard TD pass by Red Bank quarterback Terrance Scanlon brought the Buccaneers (4-3) within a field goal with less than three minutes left, but the Bengals held on to win.

Pat Moran kicked 33- and 27-yard field goals for Barnegat.
