But Darmstatter said the decision wasn't just about football.

"I wanted to stay on the East Coast, and academics was a big part of the decision," he said Saturday.

Darmstatter's second choice was Purdue. He also considered Rutgers, Central Florida and Syracuse.

"It was a tough one because it was down between Boston and Purdue and they are both great schools," Darmstatter said. "But it came down to where and location, and Boston was easier for me and my family to get there."

Darmstatter had 15 catches for 272 yards entering Saturday's game against Lakewood, despite missing time with an injured elbow. He caught a touchdown pass in the Bengals' 48-6 win over Lakewood, but full statistics were not yet available.

"He worked hard to get to where he's at, and he's a great kid who deserves all the recgonition he's got," Barnegat coach Rob Davis said.

Boston College is 6-3 this season, 3-2 in the ACC.

"I'm very excited and can't wait to get up there in the summer and start working out with the team," Darmstatter said.
