Bridgeton High School used a fake field goal in overtime to cap a 34-31 win over host Mainland Regional in a Cape-Atlantic League interdivision game on Friday night.

Bridgeton senior quarterback Tamar Jackson, who also serves as the team's kicker, was set for a field-goal attempt trailing 31-28 on the 12-yard line in overtime.

But the snap went directly to Jackson, who found Darrell Jackson down the left side for a touchdown and the win.

"We practice that play all the time," Bridgeton coach Dave Ellen said. "It doesn't matter what the situation is or where we're at in the game."

Tamar Jackson passed for three touchdowns, two to freshman Capadonna Miller, and kicked a 30-yard field goal.

"He's a leader," Ellen said of Jackson. "That's what he's turned into."

Mainland led 14-9 at the half after touchdowns by Chris Kaczmarski and Dashown Waller.

Each team scored multiple touchdowns in a back-and-forth second half before Zack Storr's touchdown with eight minutes remaining forced overtime for Mainland.

The Mustangs led briefly in overtime on a 32-yard field goal by Jim Cooper.
