The Pinelands Regional football team lost 42-0 to visiting Monsignor Donovan in a Shore Conference B South game Thursday.

The win was the Griffins' fourth straight to keep them atop the division standings.

Monsignor Donovan (4-1) took a 14-point lead after the first quarter and extended it 28-0 at the half.

The Wildcats are now 0-6.

Pinelands drove to the Griffins' 2-yard line with the score 0-0 early in the game but committed an offsides penalty and the drive was stopped. The Wildcats drove again to the Griffiins' 5-yard line in the second half, but two penalties sent the drive backwards. The Griffins' also intercepted two passes.

"We had opportunities all night but didn't make the plays," Pinelands coach Sean DeRosa said. "We moved the ball, but we couldn't finish. You've got to be able to finish. We dropped some balls. It was a lot of little things. Our defense gave up some big plays."
