Neither team has ever won a playoff game. This is Barnegat's second postseason appearance.

In 2006, the Bengals made the postseason in their first varsity season, losing to Paulsboro 34-7 in the South Jersey Group I quarterfinals.

Lower is one of this season's most remarkable stories. The Caper Tigers were a combined 1-29 from 2007-09. This is Lower's first playoff appearance since it lost 26-7 to Bridgeton in the 2006 S.J. Group II quarterfinals. Lower is 0-2 in playoff games.

This contest should feature plenty of action. Barnegat features one of the state's most prolific passing games. Bengals quarterback Nick SanGiacomo leads the area with 20 touchdown passes.

"Our defense needs to just keep coming to play," Lower coach Mike Wilson said. "Our offense has been hit or miss all year. Our defense has been keeping us in games.

Key players for Barnegat: Nick SanGiacomo, QB, 126-of-249 for 1,833 yards and 20 touchdowns; Mike DeTroia, WR, 45 catches for 725 yards and nine touchdowns; Pat Moran, WR, 41 catches for 605 yards and six touchdowns; Ryan Morris, TE, 19 catches for 334 yards and four TDs.

Key players for Lower: Mike Mulligan, QB, nine touchdown passes; Jimmy Hall, RB, 96 carries for 552 yards; Vance Matthews, WR, five touchdown catches; Chris Alicea, RB/WR/DB, Eric Fletcher, LB/S; Tyler Sole, RB/S.

Keys to victory: Barnegat needs to get its passing game going and take an early lead. That will allow the Bengals to keep Lower off balance by mixing in some runs. Lower needs to control the ball and keep Barnegat's offense off the field as much as possible.
